BookDNA, the Modern Alternative to Goodreads

BookDNA is a platform that helps readers find books they'll love and track the ones they've read. Think Goodreads, but for readers who want a calm, private space to track what they read, keep notes, and explore books that match their Book DNA. In my opinion, the attractive user interface is superior to Goodreads.

Readers can find their next read through curated lists and unexpected detours. They interviewed 13,000+ authors to ask about their favourite books across a range of topics, themes, and moods. You can follow their recommendations or wander into bookshelves to explore.

For a book you love, you can drop it into search and see where it leads. You can add your own themed lists of books to help you find similar books to read or, for authors, to draw attention to your own books by listing comparable books that your readers would enjoy.

They are now building the other half: a private, personal way to track your reading and get personalized recommendations based on your tastes.

This will allow you to:

  • Privately log what you read: Track your TBR, what you're reading, and what you've finished (or DNF), with notes and ratings, in a space that's private by default and fully yours.
  • Keep your reading life organised: Your TBR and reading log stay easy to navigate as they grow, with built-in smart organisation. You can also add your own folders to sort things your way.
  • Never miss a new release: Track the book series you're reading, your favourite authors, and when a new book is released in the series or by the author.
  • Get book recommendations that match your taste: Book DNA learns from what you love (and what you don't) to suggest books for you.

The site is in beta. Users are invited to contribute to future developments, and to explore the roadmap to see what's live and what's coming.

BookDNA publishes monthly newsletters for readers and authors and offers facilities to help authors announce and promote their books.
