Hidcote Manor Gardens July 2026

In July, I visited Hidcote Manor Gardens, which, together with Sissinghurst, is one of my favourites.

It is a National Trust property covering 10.5 acres, divided into a series of smaller garden rooms. No single viewpoint reveals the whole garden; visitors are encouraged to discover new views around every corner and through hedged archways.

There is so much to see. The architecture of the Cotswold buildings, including dovecotes and splendid garden walls, forms a backdrop to gardens filled with perennials, shrubs and hedges. It includes a fruit and vegetable garden, an orchard, and extensive views into the Gloucestershire countryside.

For me, the principal attraction is the design and the surprises at every turn, with teasing views through the hedges.
