Stone Devil From The Invisible College Trilogy

The statue of the Stone Devil that features in my YA series, The Invisible College Trilogy and appears in the cover design for book 2, ‘Dust and Shadows, is based on this photograph I took some years ago. I’m glad I did, as it has since disappeared.

In book one, ’They Do Things Differently Here’, teenager Peter is convinced that, between glances, the statue has moved. When he first sees it, ‘…it was just like it is now, with its right elbow resting on the wall and its chin resting on its right hand, with the left arm on the wall. (A short while later) I looked back at the statue. The positions of the arms were reversed, and what’s more, it had moved.’
