Pet Cemetery

There is a moment in the surreal ‘Garden’ chapter of my novel, Another Life, when Oliver discovers a pet cemetery. It is a harbinger of a tragedy to befall him. The cemetery was inspired by one I came across in the garden of Beeleigh Abbey in Essex, a restored former monastery, now a private house owned by the Foyles bookshop family. The inscriptions of many of the gravestones remain legible.
